Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan had a ''Three and Done'' one time. Devin Harris walked into his office after the 2004 season and told Ryan he wanted to head to the NBA. ''I told him that I would get back to him after I found out what the NBA people really felt,'' Ryan said of the eventual lottery pick. ''And when I did find out and sat down and talked to him, he was just so relieved that I would allow him to go make a lot of money.'' John Calipari lets his Kentucky players do that with regularity after only one season.

Mention Connecticut basketball and Shabazz Napier is the first name to come up. Talk about top-ranked Florida and Scottie Wilbekin is the player most often brought up. Connecticut and Florida - and Napier and Wilbekin - meet Saturday in the Final Four with the winner getting a chance to win the national championship. ''The one thing I would say with Shabazz, which is a little bit different, is he is a very, very good distributor of the ball,'' Florida coach Billy Donovan said Friday of Napier, who leads the Huskies in scoring (18.1), rebounding (5.9) and assists (4.9), a first for the program.

Masahiro Tanaka knew the English words to answer a question about the last time he'd been this anxious before a big game. ''Japan Series,'' Tanaka said, referring to last season's championship in which he saved the clinching seventh game. Nerves were an issue for Tanaka in the early innings of his major league debut for the New York Yankees, but the right-hander soon settled into his new surroundings. Tanaka pitched seven innings, Jacoby Ellsbury had three hits and the Yankees beat the Toronto Blue Jays 7-3 on Friday night.

The Houston Rockets are heading to the playoffs for the second straight year and believe wins like the one they picked up Friday night will help them when they get there. James Harden scored 39 points and the Rockets ended a three-game skid and clinched a playoff berth with a 111-107 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder ''It was a great win for us ... just to give ourselves confidence, especially going into the playoffs,'' Harden said. It shows the resilience we have.'' Kevin Durant scored 28 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for his 40th straight game with at least 25 points, the longest streak since Michael Jordan also did it 40 consecutive times in 1986-87. We lost.'' The normally mild-mannered Durant, who leads the NBA with 32.1 points a game, talked a little trash afterward when asked if he was frustrated by the physical defense Houston's Chandler Parsons and Francisco Garcia played on him.

The first major contract extension finalized by the Seattle Seahawks following their Super Bowl title was a commitment to coach Pete Carroll - and to an ideology that finally proved successful at the professional level. While getting stars such as Earl Thomas and Richard Sherman locked up remains important, the focus for the Seahawks was making sure Carroll was sticking around. "This was a huge priority for us coming into the offseason," Seattle general manager John Schneider said Friday. You start at the top." The Seahawks locked up Carroll through the 2016 season with a three-year extension announced Friday.
